i stood on the edge of a dire cliff
I felt my soul begin to lift
So i chiseled out a stone heart
leaving a void never to be a part
of who i was or wish i could be
for you to truly see the real me-
that i so often portray in a glass ball
looking for comfort, but content to fall
and shatter on the concrete beneath
happy for release, sad for defeat
but to win i have to give my will
and yet, still
i hate the to give up lusts
and misguided friends with tainted trusts
and values twisted and molested
my mind is as a sheep, silent and arrested
to keep one track of thought
my regards and morals bought
by the common notion of todays theology
and mixed familiarity
of the world and it's love
and the smog drifting above
if this is heaven, i don't want a piece
i'd rather stop and cease
my steps upon this barren wasteland
and take this heart in my hand
and stand on top of this cliff
to weak to do it alone, i ask for you to lift
my hands to the sky
and scream for mercy from on high
scatter the clouds
lift me above the crowds
so all i need to do is whisper
for your grace so pure
so i lift this heart
for you to make it a part
of the family i long to know
and the love i wish to grow
and fill the void i once made
and lay me down in soothing shade
for my heart is weary with worry
and all i want is to be me
the one you see each passing day
as i lay my head down to pray
you know my wings are clipped
and my halo is stripped
but yet you still call me "son"
because you took the one

thing that this world could never do
the place of me on that cross...
